Why a House? The House We Are Trusting For
Thank you so much for being part of our journey and for all your encouragement. More than 100 people responded to me to pray for me. It's been overwhelmingly encouraging.
I've been listening to a book on prayer by Bishop Barron. It's about how prayer is powerful and that it moves not just spiritual space but physical space, as Jesus said. In parallel with that book, hearing how many people said, "I will pray for you," gave me so much hope. For that I'm so grateful.
So I want to share why we are praying for a house, and what kind of house.
One of the most fun and effective ways to build relationships, disciple others, and be discipled by others is to bring people into our home.
For pre-marriage and marriage mentoring, we tried the YWAM Perth meeting room, but it was really hard to make a place that is warm and safe. At this point, we can't hire another place to do the mentoring. When we do mentoring at home, that really helps people to open up. It isn't a counselling session. It's just mentoring, like good friends. So we really want to continue to create that sort of environment.
Because of this, one big thing for us is the separation. A separate space for mentoring, to protect our little ones' and teenagers' ears. ;) Often those conversations are quite private, as you can imagine.

The other main reason is stewardship. I could continue to rent, and for some people or in some countries, that is very reasonable or even wise. However, Elli and I are living by others' financial partnership. I think owning a house would let that partnership last, not just now, but even to the next generation of our ministry.
And stability. At this point, we only get one-year leases, and it kind of shocked us a bit when we had to move. Now that we have citizenship, we would like a place where we can settle down.
Elli also dreams about hospitality. If we have our own place, we can make a room for people to stay with us short-term when there is a crisis. To bring people into the family. Our big dream is a granny flat, where young couples could come for a marriage retreat with us.
It doesn't have to be big. Big rooms are not necessary. We need space for the girls, space for guests, and a big living area to host.
Whatever is granted to us, we will be very grateful, and we will be happy. But in our limited eyes, this is the house we are praying for. As we are thinking about the suburbs, I will share in the next post.
Would you pray with us for this house? A warm home with a big living area to host, space for guests, and a separate space for private conversations. And, if it's possible, a granny flat.
Elli and Acksios Kim
