God Said Two Years.

A few days after we moved out of the base, I was driving home. Thirty minutes now, the same road I drive every day. And God spoke to me. You are going to buy a house in two years.

It was the same voice I heard when he said: "Move out of your base accommodation". The same voice that asked me to be a full-time missionary. I know that voice.

I should go back further, because the house does not start in the car.

Elli and I always wanted to go somewhere else. When we started dating, we thought we would train here and then go to unreached places. But on the journey, God spoke to us to make this place our home. That felt right. That is why we started the journey to get permanent residency, quite a late stage in our journey in Australia.

Once the visa was done, our family also grew. Now, in 2026, we have three girls — 13, 11, and 8.

We knew three or four years ago that our apartment was small. Quite tight for us. We wanted to move out, but when we prayed, we did not have confirmation. So we stayed.

Then in May 2025, we felt God spoke. Move out, mid-July.

That was a big step of faith. Our accommodation on base was about $300 a week. Anywhere outside, without subsidy, is $650, $700. Double our rent. But we moved, on the 15th of July, as God asked.

At least for me, it became a confirmation. He was putting a stamp on something — when I say it, I follow through, no matter how worried you are, as long as you are willing to follow me.

That was a big moment for me. Trusting God for personal expenses has always been the harder part. Fundraising for outreach is in some ways easier, because the finance benefits the mission directly. But asking people for my daily living, even though that is how God has led us to live, has always been a struggle for me. In that process, I learned so much about God's provision for people's needs — my own needs — in order to be in this ministry.

And then, days later, the car.

For a whole year after that, I was quiet about it. I told myself God will make the way and I do not have to do anything. I might have been wrong. I was balancing between two things — is this my desire, or God's desire? Do I need to do it, or does God need to do it? I was juggling, trying to balance it out.

Lately, God asked me a question. Do you have faith that I spoke?

I said, I need assurance, Lord. Is that really you?

He did not answer that question, yes or no. He asked me questions instead, which is typical of God, in my experience. Do you have faith? Do you have faith? Faith to walk out of the boat. Faith that I can heal. Faith that I can bring a coin out of a fish. Faith in the loaves of bread, feeding thousands of people. Faith that I can do a miracle. Over and over and over.

So I prayed to have faith.

And then I understood the cost. To have faith, I need to confess it out loud. And the cost of confessing is — what if I am wrong? What if it fails, and I embarrass myself? Then I had two choices. Have faith. Or do not have faith, and not be embarrassed.

The cost of having faith is willingness to be a fool with God's name.

That is where I am. I want faith like Abraham — that I do not know how it is going to happen, but I proclaim what God said.

I can plan as fast as my brain can. What we need is four bedrooms and one office, where Elli and I can do pre-marriage and marriage counselling without my little ears hearing something private, or something not helpful for them. The size and the location we need are big enough for our family, and for the ministry we do at home. Even if a bank is willing to loan to us, we do not have the payment plan. There are probably many ways. We just don't see any of them yet.

There is a story I keep coming back to. Four men carry their friend to Jesus. The house is full; they cannot get in, so they go up on the roof and open it and lower him down. What I notice is that they did not try to fix him first. They did not have a plan for his legs. They carried him to Jesus, and that was their whole part.

That is what I am asking for in this prayer group. Not for anyone to solve this. I don't have a plan to show you, and I am not asking you to find one. I am proclaiming in faith what I believe God said, because I think that is all God is asking me to do right now. I would love for you to carry it with me.
