We are like a roadhouse
Hello, we are the Kims
We have been missionaries with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Perth, Australia since 2008/9. Acksios started his missionary journey in Korea, and Elli started out here in Perth, where we met in 2009. Our mission is to see this world hear about Jesus, through one person – and their calling – at a time. We are passionate about mentoring, training, and walking with young people, to help them step into their purpose within God's plan.
Currently we are serving in the area of Media & Communications and IT. Together with our co-leader Jess, we lead the team that covers YWAM Perth's social media, video productions, printed promotions, and the IT infrastructure for all the schools and ministries operating out of our campus.
Instagram: Have a look at what's been happening!
Our topic was “Relationships” – how to relate to others based to biblical principles. This is a topic that continues to break our hearts. As Christians, we have all the tools to get along, but so often still don’t know how to do it well! It’s such a joy to be with the students, and our hope is to set them up for success in their relationships and friendships wherever God will call them next.
Liana joined us in the classroom for a morning, when she wasn't quite well enough to go to school. 🥰
We're still a bit in shock! And the best part? All the people who celebrated with us from all over the world! We are excited, but seeing so many people sharing that excitement and relief with us is the best. 🤗🥰
@ywamperth
So many stories of transformed lives; people touched, served, healed, and introduced to Jesus. What a privilege that we get to do this.
My personal favourite is the story of a man who came up to the team from our counselling school in Uganda. He had seen them talk to people in his street all day, but they hadn't talked to him. So he came up and asked if they would share with him as well. Our team shared about Jesus and it turned out that this man used to be a Christian but had given up his faith many years ago. He decided to start following Jesus again, even shared his testimony in church the next Sunday and the team got to pray with him and his wife for a safe delivery in a dangerous pregnancy. They later heard from a local contact that the wife had had a smooth birth and a healthy baby. ♥️
- Elli
When she invited me (Elli 😉), I really thought that I didn't need this, that I was doing just fine. Boy was I wrong! This group of women, ever changing with our changing staff, has been such a source of strength, joy and support over these years. Even though both of these ladies are now working in other areas, the group still keeps meeting.
So grateful, @sally_a_moylan and @lauramagele, thank you!

And on Sunday, they're heading off for off-grid camping and lectures for three weeks!
This January, we are running 5 training programs:
- 4WD Discipleship Training School
- Birth Attendant School
- Primary Health Care School
- Foundations for Counselling Ministry
and
- Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages!
Each of these schools offer such quality training in all these different areas. We're excited to see the students equipped and then take what they are learning to be a blessing all around the world!
It was all about developing the skills to be able to stay in missions long-term: Communication skills, telling the story of what God is doing, sharing their vision effectively, and building lasting friendships that keep their mission going strong for a long time.
We're so inspired by the commitment, humility, and faith of this group.
(Please excuse the shaky video with a daughter on my lap. 😅)
A lot of my (Elli's) days lately have been filled with planning and preparing food for this retreat alongside some amazing people.
As a missions centre, we will be taking time away for input, hearing from God together, prayer, and lots of fun and community in between all of that. I'm super excited to see what God will do!
Thank you @ieshiahoffmann for capturing this! 🤗
(I promise, they were not just reading the whole time! 😅)
This is why we do what we do. Seeing lives touched and changed by the love of God. Both, the lives of our students, and the lives of those they get to share God's love with. 🤩🫶🏼
Ryan did a great job in his message, to explain how Jesus didn't choose the most obvious people for His ministry, but those who wouldn't have been chosen by others. And how through those exact people God changed history.
When we prayed for the afternoon beforehand with those who were helping to host it, we had a strong sense that this could be a really crucial moment in the kids' walk with God.
Please pray that the seeds that were planted would grow and bear fruit.
Capturing people's stories is one way how we get to inspire others to know God more. It's a lot of fun, but we also see the lasting impact it can have.
Please pray for this amazing lady as she is wrapping up her current life here and getting ready to relocate, so she can help to train more missionaries from the Middle East.
Yesterday afternoon, I was able to record a whole bunch of our returning students individually and hear their stories. Such a privilege to see the impact they have had, but also the change in these guys from when they first came.
I simply think back, and ask God to show me, if there has been a similar situation where I have judged someone else. If something comes to mind, a situation where I looked down on someone, or made assumptions about their character based on this behaviour, I pray and sincerely ask God's forgiveness for pointing my finger at one of His children, and thinking of myself as better than them. God promises to forgive as we ask for it!
Both Elli and I have found so much freedom from the opinions of others, simply by acknowledging our own judgemental thoughts. But beyond that, it continues to help us to grow in compassion and love toward others.
I first learned about this principle when I read Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge or you too will be judged".
Give it a go next time you notice that you're worried about what others might think!
We also did a lot of evangelism in the city. We realized Bunbury city is not like other big cities. There are not many people who come to the city to hang out. It is also not a school holiday for any special holiday season. So, evangelism is pretty quiet. However, there are conversations which we can encourage people and pray for them.
God has been speaking to me personally that we are pioneering the way in Bunbury. We met a pastor who never contacted by YWAM last 13 years. He was a bit sceptical about YWAM in general, but we start talking about it and clear some misunderstandings. I think we will work in the future. We are sowing seeds.
Nevertheless, we are hosting a city event. We invited every person we met in the city as well as all the churches. We would love your prayer for Friday combine worship gathering at the beach with Humility and Hunger band. It is something never done before, so we don’t know what to aspect. Pray for salvation as well as church unity.
Thank you for being part of this outreach by praying for us.

I wasn't sad. I was proud of her. There is something beautiful about it. Then I thought, would God enjoy to see me focusing something else than Him momentarily and talk all about it later?
Yes, I think so. I just need to go back after when I am done. This free me from the guilt of not always focusing on God. He is bigger than that.

10 years ago, God spoke to join ywamperth Media ministry to mobilise more missionaries through video. I am grateful and privileged.
